General Info
1. Registration Desk:
Online registration will still be open during the workshop period and registration package can be collected from the registration desk, which is located at the main entrance reception of the Diamond. The opening times of the registration desk are:
Sunday 8th July 2018: 8:00am to 6:00pm
Monday 9th July 2018: 8:00am to 6:00pm
Tuesday 10th July 2018: 8:00am to 3:00pm
Wednesday 11th July 2018: 8:00am to 5:00pm
2. Wireless Connection:
If your own organization is part of the "eduroam" network, then you can use the University's Wi-Fi network "eduroam" directly. For other guests and visitors, you can use the "WifiGuest" network. Select WifiGuest from the list of available wireless networks and sign in or log into The Cloud using your web browser. If you're not automatically directed to the log in page, open your device's browser and go to www.sky.com. This service is provided by Sky.
3. Welcome Reception (6:00pm to 9:00pm):
Workshop Welcome Reception is held at 6:00pm-9:00pm on 8th July 2018 at Firth Hall, Firth Court, Western Bank, Sheffield S10 2TN, about 8 minutes walk from the Diamond (https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/ssid/maps/firth):
4. Workshop Banquet:
Workshop banquet is held on 10th July 2018 at the Chatsworth House (https://www.chatsworth.org/). Transportation is provided and it takes about 40 to 50 minutes. Coach will leave the Diamond building at 1:20pm sharp and please do not be late as the coach hiring company runs a very tight schedule. We will arrive at Chatsworth at around 2:10pm and then visit the House and the Garden (ticket provided). The drinks reception starts at 6:30pm at the Painted Hall and then we will arrive at the Carriage House at about 7:30pm for dinner. The banquet finishes at 10:00pm and the return coach leaves Chatsworth at 10:15pm sharp.
5. Travel to Sheffield:
There are direct train services from Manchester Airport to Sheffield city centre (about one hour and 10 minutes) or you can transfer through the Manchester Piccadilly train station (Manchester Airport to Manchester Piccadilly to Sheffield). A taxi fare from Manchester Airport to Sheffield costs roughly 65 pounds (not metered).
You can also arrive at Sheffield using the Doncaster Sheffield Airport, the East Midlands Airport, the Leeds Bradford Airport, and the Birmingham Airport. There are frequent train services from London to Sheffield (about 2 hours), if you arrive from the Heathrow Airport or other London airports or by train from mainland Europe. You can book the train tickets from London to Sheffield at a discounted rate using the Discounted Rail Travel Booking Form for attending the workshop.
