Welcome to IEEE RFID 2024

Welcome to Cambridge, Massachusetts for IEEE RFID 2024, the 18th annual conference on RFID!

Over the last 18 years we have worked to provide an environment to make new friends, socialize with peers, establish new collaborations, and develop new ideas through technical presentations, workshops and social events. IEEE RFID continues to be the premier international venue for industry and academia, where engineers and practitioners can meet and discuss the latest breakthroughs in RFID and related fields.

Our organizing committee has been steadily working behind the scenes to make this event happen, and we hope you enjoy the outstanding program we have created for you this year. The program includes a day of tutorials and workshops, two days of technical tracks, and outstanding keynote presentations from Dr. Tommaso Melodia at Northeastern University and Dr. Dina Katabi at MIT.

Workshops remain an important component of this conference, and this year we are excited to have three workshops covering a wide range of topics. The topics include open source FPGA tools for RFID development presented by Dr. James Rosenthal (CSEM, Switzerland), the path towards ubiquitous RFID infrastructure presented by Jeffrey Dungen (Reelyactive, Canada) and a tutorial on how to build your own UHF RFID reader with Prof. Nicolar Barbot (University of Grenoble Alpes, France). Together, this combination offers attendees perspectives of the scientific community at the forefront of research and of industry experts bringing RFID to the global marketplace.

Our technical program continues the tradition of exceptional quality that our attendees expect. This commitment to excellence is made possible by all authors and presenters who contribute to the conference, as well as our Technical Program Committee led by TPC Chairs, Dr. Aline Eid and Dr. James Rosenthal. Every accepted paper has gone through a rigorous IEEE peer review process.

Over the last 18 years, this conference has built a tradition of excellence and innovation. We are especially grateful for the sponsorship by the IEEE Council on RFID (CRFID) and its member societies, and for the generosity of our Patrons who sponsor awards and provide special opportunities for conference attendees. We want to acknowledge the dedication and passion of our attendees, authors, speakers, co-chairs, and volunteers. Please help us make next year's conference even better by continuing to submit papers and by becoming a volunteer. Talk with anyone on the Organizing Committee to find out how you can contribute.
