Tour 2
Thursday 03.00 - 08.00 pm
This tour (pre-registration and registration required, free of charge) takes us to Stolberg to the CAE company (group 1) and to Aachen (cathedral, cathedral treasury) (group 2).
CAE is a leading provider of simulation products and training solutions for all armed forces and organizational units in the air, naval, land, and public safety sectors. Group 1 will get to know the company and its innovation laboratory as part of a guided tour with limited access and number of participants.
Aachen Cathedral is of international, architectural, and historical significance in many respects. It is regarded as a symbol of the unification and resurgence of Western Europe after the end of the Roman Empire. Aachen Cathedral and Charlemagne have a special significance for Europe, as they symbolize the unity of the Christian West. Since 936, more than 30 German kings of the Middle Ages have been crowned in today's cathedral in reverence for Charlemagne's throne and tomb. In addition to the cathedral, we will visit the Cathedral Treasury: The Aachen Cathedral Treasury contains the most important and extensive church treasury north of the Alps. The works of art were made or donated over the course of twelve centuries for St. Mary's Church, which was founded by Charlemagne around 800. Along with the cathedral, the cathedral treasury is also added to the UNESCO World Heritage List.
