Welcome from the General Chairs

Welcome to IEEE RFID 2022, the 16th annual conference on RFID in Las Vegas!

After two years of virtual events, it is my pleasure to welcome you back to an in-person IEEE RFID conference. Whether you are joining us in Las Vegas or remotely, we have worked to provide an environment to make new friends, socialize with peers, establish new collaborations and develop new ideas through technical presentations, workshops and social events. IEEE RFID continues to to be the premier international venue for industry and academia, where engineers and practitioners can meet and discuss the latest breakthroughs in RFID and related fields.

Our organizing committee has been steadily working behind the scenes to make this event happen, and we hope you enjoy the outstanding program we have created. The program includes a full day of tutorials and workshops, two days of technical tracks, and three outstanding keynote presentations from Professor Edwin Kan of Cornell University, Dr. Aline Eid of MIT Media Lab, and Professor Christopher Anderson of the US Naval Academy. The Workshop on Wireless Motion Capture continues to be an important component of this conference series, and we welcome new workshops on Digital Spectrum Twinning and AI in RFID. We are also happy to once again be co-located with RFID Journal LIVE!, the premier RFID trade show and exhibition. Together, this combination offers attendees the perspectives of the scientific community at the forefront of research, and the best industry perspectives.

Our technical program continues the tradition of exceptional quality that our attendees expect. This commitment to excellence is made possible by all authors and presenters who contribute to the conference, as well as our Technical Program Committee led by TPC Chairs, Dr. Ultan McCarthy and Dr. Mohammad Alhassoun. Every accepted paper has gone through a rigorous IEEE peer review process.

Over sixteen years, this conference has built a tradition of excellence and innovation. We are especially grateful for the sponsorship by the IEEE Council on RFID (CRFID) and its member societies, and for the generosity of our Patrons who sponsor awards and provide special opportunities for conference attendees. We continue to enjoy a beneficial collaboration with RFID Journal LIVE!. We want to acknowledge the dedication and passion of our attendees, authors, speakers, co-chairs, and volunteers. Please help us make next year’s conference even better by continuing to submit papers and by becoming a volunteer. Talk with anyone on the Organizing Committee to find out how you can contribute.
