Welcome to Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam and the 10th International Conference on Knowledge and System Engineering (KSE 2018). Following the success of the previous conferences in the series, KSE 2018 continues to provide a forum for researchers to discuss problems, exchange results, identify emerging issues and establish collaborations in related areas of Knowledge and Systems Engineering. KSE 2018 is organized by the Posts & Telecommunications Institute of Technology, Vietnam (PTIT) and Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST).

We received 106 submissions from 11 countries to the main conference and special sessions. To handle the review process, we invited expert 411 reviewers with a maximum of 5 papers per reviewer. Each paper was reviewed by at least three reviewers. As in previous years, we followed the single-blind process in which the identities of the reviewer are not known to the authors. New this year, we used the EDAS conference management service to manage the submission and selection of papers.

After a rigorous review process, followed by discussions among the program chairs, 35 papers were accepted as long papers and 24 as short papers resulting in the acceptance rate of 30% and 22%, respectively. In addition, 8 papers were accepted for poster presentation.

We are honoured to have 3 keynote talks by Professor Tomoko Matsui (ISM, Japan), Prof. Yuzuru Tanaka (Hokkaido University, Japan), Professor Satoshi Masashi Unoki (Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST), Japan), who are respectively leading researchers in the fields such as Speech Processing, Computational Intelligence, Database, and Big Data. The conference program also includes four special sessions: Intelligent Software and Knowledge Representation, Spatial Data Science and Technology, Deep Learning and Applications to Language Processing, and Cyber Security Threats and Countermeasures.

The proceedings of KSE 2018 are provided on USB drives at the conference. All papers in the main conference and special sessions will be indexed by IEEE and made available through IEEE Xplore Digital Library.
