Welcome from the General Chairs

Welcome to Seattle, Washington for IEEE RFID 2023, the 17th annual conference on RFID!

Over the last 17 years we have worked to provide an environment to make new friends, socialize with peers, establish new collaborations, and develop new ideas through technical presentations, workshops and social events. IEEE RFID continues to be the premier international venue for industry and academia, where engineers and practitioners can meet and discuss the latest breakthroughs in RFID and related fields.

Our organizing committee has been steadily working behind the scenes to make this event happen, and we hope you enjoy the outstanding program we have created for you this year. The program includes a full day of tutorials and workshops, two days of technical tracks, and a selection of outstanding keynote presentations from Associate Professor Fadel Adib based at MIT Media Lab and EECS as well as Ranveer Chandra, Managing Director for Research for Industry and CTO of Agri-Food at Microsoft.

Our workshops continue to impress covering a wide range of topics and continuing to be an important component of this conference series. This year we are especially excited to welcome new workshops on Digital Spectrum Twinning and Ocean IoT. In addition, this year we are delighted to announce that we will be co-located with the RAIN ALLIANCE. Together, this combination offers attendees perspectives of the scientific community at the forefront of research, and of the best industry experts bringing RFID to the global marketplace.

Our technical program continues the tradition of exceptional quality that our attendees expect. This commitment to excellence is made possible by all authors and presenters who contribute to the conference, as well as our Technical Program Committee led by TPC Chairs, Dr. Ultan McCarthy and Dr. Aline Eid. Every accepted paper has gone through a rigorous IEEE peer review process.

Over the last 17 years, this conference has built a tradition of excellence and innovation. We are especially grateful for the sponsorship by the IEEE Council on RFID (CRFID) and its member societies, and for the generosity of our Patrons who sponsor awards and provide special opportunities for conference attendees. We want to acknowledge the dedication and passion of our attendees, authors, speakers, co-chairs, and volunteers. Please help us make next year's conference even better by continuing to submit papers and by becoming a volunteer. Talk with anyone on the Organizing Committee to find out how you can contribute.
