Welcome
Welcome Message from Conference Chair
Department of Computing, Faculty of Science, Silpakorn University, is very grateful and highly appreciated to serve as a local organizer of the 17th International Computer Science and Engineering Conference 2013 (or in short ICSEC2013). We are thankful to all that have come to the official opening ceremony today.
Computer science and engineering is the growing field in the area especially in the Asian country like Thailand. We have more and more experts in the fields which are researchers, lecturers, or from industry. The original mission of the ICSEC is to bring together innovative academics and industrial experts in the field of Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology and Information Security to a common forum, where a constructive dialog on theoretical concepts, practical ideas and results of the state of the art will be developed. The conference was originated 17 years ago locally and started to become the international one in 2010. For this year, we have a theme on "Big Data Processing for a Better Society" which focuses on the use of big data computing technology to improve our everyday life.
The conference has a very rich conference program with 4 tutorials, 4 keynote speakers. We have at most 4 parallel sessions and 1 special panel on the Computer Science and Engineering Education. We also have 2 interesting workshops related to the big data theme. The conference has 14 tracks which contain both Thai and English papers. For all the submissions, 61% are from Thailand and 39% are from other countries. Each paper is double-blind reviewed and is read by 2-3 reviewers. The reviewers are from all over the worlds where 36% are foreigners. This year we have about 128 English submissions where the acceptance rate is 57%. For Thai papers, there are 46 submissions where the acceptance rate is 56%.
The success of the conferences relies on all hard-working staff at Department of Computing, and the Faculty of Science, Silpakorn University. We also received a numerous support from many experts in the Computer Science and Engineering fields from all over the whole for reviewing and organizing an excellent technical program. Our financial sponsors such as National Broadcasting Telecommunication Commission, New Technology Information, CISCO, SGI, IBM, Counter Service, CAT Telecomunications,The Communication Solutions, 3nd Studio, and Oracle give tremendous support for keeping the conference cost low. The IEEE Thailand and IEEE: Advancing Technology for Humanity are the co-sponsors of our conference and give us guidelines for the publication in the IEEExplore digital library.
We are very in debt to all the above organizations, TPC, reviewers, steering committee, and local staffs, as well as keynote / tutorial speakers for making the conference very successful.
We hope that all of audiences will get a rewarding experience and will have a chance to exchange research knowledge in their working area.
