ATC'18 Chairs message

Dear Colleagues,

It's our great pleasure and honour to welcome you to the 2018 International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Communications co-organized by the IEEE Communications Society, together with the Radio-Electronics Association of Vietnam and Posts & Telecommunications Institute of Technology of Vietnam. Started in 2008, the conference has made a great tour across Vietnam, for better promoting its scientific development. This year the 11st ATC is now back again to Ho Chi Minh City from October 18 to October 20, 2018.

Be hosted by Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT), the ATC 2018 will feature high qualities programs consisting of keynote speakers, invited talks, invited papers and regular papers. We are coming together to share knowledge and high-quality research works for the mutual development of science and technology.

This year the Conference received 124 submissions from authors of 20 countries. The papers rate between Vietnam and international papers is standing at 61.8% and 38.2%, respectively. Those impressive numbers indicate that ATC is absolutely turning out an international forum for scientific and technical exchange among Vietnamese and worldwide scientists, engineers in the fields of electronics, communications and related areas. Overall, the acceptance numbers of papers are 57.2% with 71 submitted papers are selected for oral presentation in the conference.

In ATC 2018, we are so honored to have three keynote speakers to come and leave speeches: Prof. Bijan Jabbari, George Mason University, Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, USA; Prof. Hoa Le Minh, Northumbria University at Newcastle, United Kingdom, and Prof. Sylvain Guilley, Telecom-ParisTech, France. The first speech is titled "Machine Learning and Cognitive Communications for 5G and IoT" while the second emphasizes in the field of Visible Light Communications for 5G-and-Beyond Wireless Telecommunications Networks. Prof. Sylvain Guilley, for the last speech, will provide us with a review on "how to secure a connected device".

Further, the Conference addresses 4 special sessions on most favorable topics which are "Emerging Technologies for 5G Wireless Communication System", "Recent Progress in Optical Communication Systems and Networking", "Recent Advances on 5G Cellular Networks"; and "Advanced VLSI design and implementation".

For the success of the ATC, it is a continuous effort of the Organizing Committee. Taking this opportunity, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the hard-working and dedicated members of the Committee. The Conference could not run well without your kind assistance. Furthermore, we would like to express sincere and warmest thanks to our friends and supporters: Prof. Bijan Jabbari, Prof. Hoa Le Minh, and Prof. Sylvain Guilley. Overall, all of you contributed considerably to the overwhelming success of this event, thereby helping us all to reach our goals.

The achievement of the Conference is also contributed by kind devotement of many sponsors and volunteers. The Conference also gladly received financial support from National Foundation for Science and Technology Development (Nafosted) for conference proceedings printing and keynote speakers' support.
