Message from the General Chair

It is our great pleasure to welcome the attendees to the 47th annual IEEE Conference on Local Computer Networks (LCN). LCN is a premier conference addressing the leading edge of computer networking. LCN is taking place in the beautiful city of Edmonton, Canada from September 26 to 29, 2022.

LCN provides a stimulating and friendly interactive environment, encouraging interactions among researchers and practitioners, across the world. This year, the top ten author countries are Germany, France, China, United States, Canada, India, Portugal, United Kingdom, Netherland, and Australia. The program chairs have prepared a technically exciting four days program and is scheduled in hybrid format. LCN 2022 includes main, symposium, short, doctoral and demo tracks. The main conference offers technical sessions of oral presentation on hot research networking results. In its fourth edition, the symposium continues the emerging topics in networking with LCN. This year, the demonstration session comprises of 7 interesting demos and will, together with the short sessions, also be held in hybrid format. In addition, LCN continues providing a doctoral track with the goal of encouraging PhD students to contribute actively to the conference. LCN doctoral track is the best place for doctoral authors to establish a network with their peers in selected areas of networking, as well as to get advice on managing their research successfully.

We would like to express our upmost gratitude to the IEEE LCN Organizing Committee. They are a highly dedicated team who has shown an exceptional work and sense of ownership of the LCN event. The program chairs, Sharief Oteafy and Eyuphan Bulut, have done an outstanding work in putting together a high-quality technical program. Florian Tschorsch, the publications chair, did a superb job in preparing a high quality conference proceedings. Kanchana Thilakarathna managed the symposium matters with high dedication. Special thanks go to Frank Huebner for ensuring perfectly all Finances and registration matters. Ehab S. Elmallah and Mohammed Elmorsy skillfully handled all local arrangements to ensure a smooth running of the sessions. Rahim Rahmani put together an exciting demonstration session. Adel Ben Mnaouer and Matthias Wählisch greatly handled all matters pertaining to publicizing LCN on social media and among broad networking community. EDAS has been in excellent hands with Gürkan Solmaz and Matthias Wübbeling. The new position of student mentorship chair was impeccably ensured by Gürkan Solmaz. Maryam Vahabi was meticulous about coordinating the student participation grants application and selection processes. Girish Revadigar, together with Hatem Abou-Zeid, helped in securing financial support for LCN. Gary Kessler's service as the Webmaster was, as always, invaluable. Finally, I would like to thank Matthias Frank for providing support regarding all media aspects of LCN.

We also wish to extend our gratitude and many thanks to the LCN Steering Committee - Kemal Akkaya, Karl Anderson, Nils Aschenbruck, Joe Bumblis, Soumaya Cherkaoui, Ken Christensen, Ehab Elmallah, Matthias Frank, Anura Jayasumana, Salil Kanhere, Gary Kessler, Burkhard Stiller, Tim Strayer, Jens Tölle, and Damla Turgut, for their invaluable advice and continuous support. Special thanks to the technical program committee members for their contribution to the success of LCN. We also thank the keynote speakers Prof. Merouane Debbah (Technology Innovation Institute, Abu Dhabi) and Prof. Ekram Hossain (University of Manitoba), for providing very inspiring talks, about respectively 6G challenges and multi-armed bandits in edge computing. We thank also all the authors for choosing LCN to share their high-quality research and all attendees for their participation in the conference. At last, but not least, we are very grateful to the IEEE Computer Society and the IEEE Computer Society Technical Committee on Computer Communications (TCCC) for their continuing sponsorship of LCN.

On behalf of the organizing committee, we hope you will have a fruitful conference while taking the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of Edmonton and the region. We are looking forward to meeting you at LCN and wish all the participants a pleasant stay in Edmonton.
