A New Method for Full Reference Image Blur Measure

Image quality assessment is one of the most important concerns in the image processing field, since it provides the user with crucial information about the image, regardless if that image is from a direct acquisition process, or the image is already acquired and stored in the database. In the field of image quality assessment, image blur is a vital factor to indicate the quality of image. Many algorithms and techniques were developed to measure the blurriness and quality of an image with a full reference. In this paper we propose a new method to calculate the blurriness of an image with respect to a reference image. Results of different images with different blur levels have been showed and examined, and the method is compared with existing methods. The method proposed showed excellent results.
