Automatic Street Lighting System for Energy Efficiency based on Low Cost Microcontroller

This paper proposes energy efficient of Automatic Street Lighting System using LED lamps. The main objective of this project is to design energy efficient based controller for controlling the street lamp. This system is consists a controller including dark sensor, water sensor and laser sensor and a set of the light emitting diode (LED) module. The overall plan for controlling and managing the system based on the number of vehicles that using the street line and control the street lamps in five different level of brightness of LED lamps. Arduino microcontroller is used to investigate the system scheme through the use of different level brightness of LED lamps and from the final results, it can be concluded that around 77%-81% reduction in power consumption can be achieved with the proposed street lighting system design.
